[ HISTORY ]

Vander is a Sahash and the village Botanist. He lives in the abandoned greenhouse near the lake cliff, beside an abandoned house, where he keeps a well-maintained garden for Brilla. He keeps the surrounding area clean as well. He has lived in the Hillcamp for over ten years.

We first see him as he comes into town to tell Brilla about the Veglamb. He first runs into Roui, who tells him that Brilla is in a particularly bad mood. Roui says he considers this fortuitous that he ran into Roui first then and tells him to come help him at the greenhouse before departing again, being rather secretive of the reason he came into town.

When Roui comes to the greenhouse, Vander tells him about how he woke up to the Veglamb having devoured almost all of the other foliage in the greenhouse. Vander believes it to be a prank from the Mad Rook and tells Roui that the Veglamb is a plant that should only be able to reside in the Flat. He asks Roui to get rid of it, and also requests that Roui not use his axe/shovel to do it, as he doesn't want the Veglamb's blood/juice on it. Further inspection of the Veglamb reveals a message from its planter - written in Vild, it reads, "Enjoy your meal."

When Roui returns with an axe, Vander excuses himself so that he doesn't have to watch the Veglamb die. Afterwards, Vander gifts Roui with a bottle of expired Strawberry Syrup and lets Roui dispose of the shrub.

When Roui returns with the shovel, Vander suggests replanting the Veglamb in the Flat, and the elabourate plan to get the Veglamb acrost the lake without anyone noticing, using a boat and foil. When Roui comes back to move the Veglamb, Vander gives him a charm he made that is supposed to protect the holder from birds, hoping that it will protect Roui from the Mad Rook. He says that, in Roui's hands, it will show itself. Vander then goes to cleaning up and restoring the greenhouse and its plants.

[ PERSONALITY ]

Vander's personality is overall easygoing. He tends to be cheerful.

Vander hates to kill anything living, even if it means for the better of things. This is expressed in the distressing situation of the Veglamb - despite it devouring the gardens, he cannot bring himself to be the one to kill it, saying it will make him go insane. And so he enlists Roui to do it for him.

He worries about Brilla's opinion of him and does not wish to do anything that would jeopardize his stay in the Hillcamp. At one point, Vander compares Brilla to fragility of a violet.

Lazy says that Vander tends to fib constantly.

Vander likes insects and says that they keep him company. However, he hates birds.

Vander has an intense adoration for spicy foods.

Vander doesn't like the abandoned house by his greenhouse. He says it feels sinister and that he feels like it wants to be left alone.

Vander is very distraught over the Mad Rook and suspects him greatly.
